Food in Elephant Hotel

We stayed here as an affordable option for the Reading Festival - Pangbourne train station a 5 minute walk and 2 stops from Reading. Hotel was great - our twin room opened onto a Church green which was super peaceful, church bells aside. Staff were lovely, great food in the bar on our first night, very comfortable beds and well equipped. Only bugbear was the children playing football on the green on the Saturday morning at 7am - there was a wedding party taking over the place when we checked out and it looked like a lovely place for a wedding booking! I would stay again and explore the area, lovely town with lots to offer in its own right.

Lovely annex room. Direct room access to the safe enclosed garden was lovely. It was dog friendly with a dog bed (on which we could put his own bedding). The bag of treats and a ball provided was a nice touch. Dinner and wine (4 Adults and 1 toddler) in the restaurant was very good indeed and sensibly priced. The Hanger Steak was excellent. The children's meal was also good.

Though a bit shabby and the whole Raj vibe very outdated, it is clean and very comfortable.

Beautifully decorated and kitted out bathroom with a superb shower. The rest of the room was nice but not to the same standard of decoration. Large hanging TV made reaching the blind chord behind it, very tricky. Bed was reasonably comfortable but I have stayed in hotels with better mattresses for the price. Good WiFi. Lots of nice touches in terms of coffee tray and bathroom amenities.

The staff were excepional. Rooms could do with updating ie bed, furniture and TV. Bathroom lovely. The facilities in the room were great. The room was very warm although fans were provided. Didn't have breakfast as felt it was on the expensive side but no problem as tea coffee water provided. Would stay again
